On the second last day of 2014, as I was doing my daily journaling, I believe God put a dream in my heart. I was reading Acts 8, the story of Philip being told to go south from Jerusalem to Gaza by an angel of the Lord. While on the way, he met an extremely influential servant of the queen who was eagerly reading the scriptures, but was struggling to comprehend them. This divine encounter allowed Philip to explain to this spiritually hungry man, the wonders of the gospel of Jesus, and then to baptise him. It was a miraculous encounter, perfectly orchestrated by the Holy Spirit.
Philip was told to go south, but he wasn’t told what would happen or how. He just obeyed. As he courageously moved towards this new city, eager to share Jesus with the lost, God proved himself faithful and connected him with the right people.
It was through this story I knew God wanted us to go to Macau. That God would prepare the way for us with divine encounters with the spiritually hungry. Believers and not-yet believers. That God would move as we stepped out and obeyed him. That lives would would be changed by Jesus as a result. That along with the other great churches of Macau, we could reach the lost for Jesus.
We have a dream to start a church in Macau.
Macau for Jesus.
“To love God, and reach and influence the world, by building a large, Bible-based contemporary Church, building strong relationships and empowering people to fulfill their destiny in every sphere of life”
We’ve got the vision, we just don’t know how it’s going to happen. Or when. Or who’s going to be a part of it. Or how to resource it. We just know we need to start moving towards it.
Right now we are in the beginning stages of creating a joy-filled Lifehouse community in Macau.
We will be doing weekly Lifegroups at first. Reaching the lost and making disciples in the context of small groups. As we grow, and reach more people, from this faithful core we will build a visionary launch team. Then, when the time is right, we will trial some live services (possibly streaming from Lifehouse Hong Kong). We might start monthly, with the end goal of weekly services. But all of this will depend on the strength of our Lifegroups.
If you don’t have a church home in Macau, we welcome you to prayerfully consider being a part of this exciting mission; to build a young and dynamic international church with services in English and Cantonese for all those who call Macau home (locals and foreigners).
If you would like to know more about the vision of Lifehouse Macau we would love to meet you. Please fill in your information and tell us a little bit about yourself and we will get in touch with you.
Please be praying with us for God to move in the hearts of those living in Macau. Pray for more workers for this great harvest!
