    A Faithful Friend

    Pastor Richard Welsh
    A faithful friend

    Luke 5:17-26 NLT
[17] One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus.

[18] Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, [19] but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd.

So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus.

    [20] Seeing their faith,

Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”

[24b] Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”

[25] And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God.

[26] Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!”

1 - Never loose the wonder of someone coming to Jesus

2 - Understand Gods kingdom never moves forward out of comfort

3 - Be a faithful friend (who can you bring?)
  • Times Of Refreshing = “One Touch Of The Holy Spirit Changes Everything!”

(Acts 3:19-20) Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. (20) Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.

(Acts 2:1-4) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (2) Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (4) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
    1. The Holy Spirit Comes Right On Time

(Acts 2:1) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

    2. The Holy Spirit Comes In The Right Place

(Acts 2:2) Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

    3. The Holy Spirit Comes On The Right People

(Acts 2:3-4) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (4) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

    4. The Holy Spirit Wants Us To Speak Of God’s Great Wonders

(Acts 2:5-11) Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. (6) When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. (7) Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? (8) Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? (9) Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, (10) Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (11) (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

    Dare to Imagine

    David Yu
    *Dare to imagine

    Ephesians 3:20 MSG
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!

God wants to bless you but you need to trust Him

    Hebrews 11:11-12 NLT
It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise. And so a whole nation came from this one man who was as good as dead—a nation with so many people that, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

    Matthew 17:20 NLT
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible. ”

    Don't doubt

    Hebrews 11:1 ;6 NLT
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

    Guard your Faith

    Romans 10:17 NLT
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

    Our Generous Father

    PS Levi Mulhare
    *Our Generous Father

7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,

    Exodus /
“But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth”

    Romans /
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.

6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
    “God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
