*(developing a heart like Jesus for those around us)*

1 - See people how Jesus sees people

    Luke 15:3-7 NLT
[3] So Jesus told them this story: [4] "If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? [5] And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. [6] When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.' [7] In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away!

15:3-7Chinese Union Version (Traditional) (CUV)

2 - Include them (invite them to your party!)

    Matthew 9:9-10 NLT
[9] As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector's booth. "Follow me and be my disciple," Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him. [10] Later, Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners.

9:9-10Chinese Union Version (Traditional) (CUV)

3 - Make the most of every opportunity

    Colossians 4:5 NLT

4:5 (CSB Traditional)
  • *“But upon your Word …. I will let down the nets"*

(Luke 5:4-6) When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” (5) Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (6) When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

5:4-6Chinese Union Version Modern Punctuation (Traditional) (CUVMPT)

    1. All Bible is God-Breathed

(2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

3:16-17Chinese Union Version (Traditional) (CUV)

    2. Some parts come alive to us, specifically, here, now

(Luke 1:34-38) “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” (35) The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. (36) Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. (37) For no word from God will ever fail.” (38) “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

    ‭‭

(Luke 2:19) But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

    3. When you hear the Word of God, add faith

(Romans 10:17) Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

    4. Obedience to the ‘now’ Word is the place of power

(Luke 5:8-11) When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” (9) For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, (10) and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” (11) So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

  • Jesus reveals his heart for all people

(John 10:10,15,17-18) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.(15) just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. (17) The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. (18) No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.

    [7:04]
    1. Scene 1: The foot-washing reveals his heart for his disciples

(John 13:1-5,15) It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. (2)The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. (3) Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; (4) so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. (5) After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. (15) I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

    [7:06]
    2. Scene 2: Jesus’ offer reveals hope for the betrayer

(John 13:2,18,21-27) The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. (18) “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: ‘He who shared my bread has turned against me. (21) After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.” (22) His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. (23) One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. (24) Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” (25) Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?” (26) Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. (27) As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”

    [7:06]
    3. Scene 3: The communion meal reveals his heart for the sinner

(1 Corinthians 11:23-26 The Message) Let me go over with you again exactly what goes on in the Lord’s Supper and why it is so centrally important. I received my instructions from the Master himself and passed them on to you. The Master, Jesus, on the night of his betrayal, took bread. Having given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, broken for you. Do this to remember me. After supper, he did the same thing with the cup: This cup is my blood, my new covenant with you. Each time you drink this cup, remember me. What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt.

    [7:06]
(John 12:23-24, 32,33 The Message) Jesus answered, “Time’s up. The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. (24) “Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. (32) And I, as I am lifted up from the earth, will attract everyone to me and gather them around me.” (33) He put it this way to show how he was going to be put to death.

  • *Gods home for the generations*

    It takes vision and faith

    Ephesians 2:19-22 MSG
[19-22] You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. *God is building a home. He's using us all*---irrespective of how we got here---in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. *We see it* taking shape day after day---a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.

    It takes sacrifice and generosity

    1 Peter 2:5 Voice
[5] Like living stones, let yourselves be assembled into a spiritual house, a holy order of priests who *offer up spiritual sacrifices* that will be acceptable to God through Jesus the Anointed.

    It takes wisdom and urgency

    Ephesians 5:15-17 NLT
[15] So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. [16] Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. [17] Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

    Romans 14:10b-12 NLT
Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. [11] For the Scriptures say, "'As surely as I live,' says the LORD, 'every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God. '" [12] Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.

What did you do with my son Jesus?

    Revelation 20:11-12 NLT
[11] And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. [12] I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.

What did you do with what I gave you?

    2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV
[10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

    1 Timothy 6:17-19 NLT
[17] Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. [18] Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. [19] By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
