HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT IT?

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

(Jeremiah 29:11-14a NIV) For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (12) Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (14) I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.

(Matthew 7:7-8 NLT) “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. (8) For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

1. SEEK GOD FIRST

2. SEEK CONTINUALLY

3. SEEK STRONGLY (BELIEVING FOR AN OUTCOME)

(Mark 7:24-29 NIV) Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. (25) In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an impure spirit came and fell at his feet. (26) The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. (27) “First let the children eat all they want,” he told her, “for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” (28) “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” (29) Then he told her, “For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.”

1. SEEK GOD (YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER)

(Isaiah 55:6 NIV) Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

(Luke 12:31-32 NIV) But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. (32) “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

2. SEEK GOD’S PLANS AND AMBITION FOR YOU

(Romans 15:20 NIV) It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.

(2 Corinthians 5:9 NIV) So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

(Matthew 6:19-21 NIV) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. (20) But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

3. SEEK PASSION, GIFT, FRUITFULNESS

(Philippians 3:13-14 NIV) Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

4. AVOID SELFISH AMBITION

(James 3:16 NIV) For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

In Jesus, you are on the winning side

John‬ ‭16:33‬ ‭NLT‬‬
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

Joshua‬ ‭1:2-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you— from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’ No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.

Go forth and fight with courage

1 Timothy‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.

Listen to the right voices

Matthew‬ ‭26:36‬ ‭NLT‬
Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.”

Sing out a song of praise

Psalms‬ ‭103:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

(2Corinthians 3:13-18 NKJV) unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. (14) But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. (15) But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. (16) Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (17) Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord

Christian life is supernatural – always

(Ezekiel 36:26-28 NKJV) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. (27) I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. (28) Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

(John 3:1-8 NKJV) There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. (2) This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” (3) Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (4) Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” (5) Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ (8) The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Our one part is an “unveiled face”

(1John 1:5-7 NKJV) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (6) If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

(John 1:17 NKJV) For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

(Luke 18:10-14 NKJV) “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. (11) The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. (12) I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ (13) And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ (14) I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

(Mark 2:17 NKJV) When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

Refract Jesus

(Galatians 5:22-25 NKJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (24) And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

(Matthew 12:33 NKJV) “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

Exodus 18:13-23 NLT
[13] The next day, Moses took his seat to hear the people’s disputes against each other. They waited before him from morning till evening. [14] When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “What are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?” [15] Moses replied, “Because the people come to me to get a ruling from God. [16] When a dispute arises, they come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of God’s decrees and give them his instructions.” [17] “This is not good!” Moses’ father-in-law exclaimed. [18] “You’re going to wear yourself out-and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself. [19] Now listen to me, and let me give you a word of advice, and may God be with you. You should continue to be the people’s representative before God, bringing their disputes to him. [20] Teach them God’s decrees, and give them his instructions. Show them how to conduct their lives. [21] But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten. [22] They should always be available to solve the people’s common disputes, but have them bring the major cases to you. Let the leaders decide the smaller matters themselves. They will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you. [23] If you follow this advice, and if God commands you to do so, then you will be able to endure the pressures, and all these people will go home in peace.”

1 – Identify your ‘Jethro’s’

Exodus 18:7 NLT
[7] So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law. He bowed low and kissed him. They asked about each other’s welfare and then went into Moses’ tent.

2 – Get a bigger perspective

Exodus 18:8 NLT
[8] Moses told his father-in-law everything the LORD had done to Pharaoh and Egypt on behalf of Israel. He also told about all the hardships they had experienced along the way and how the LORD had rescued his people from all their troubles.

Jeremiah 16:19-20 NLT
[19] LORD, you are my strength and fortress, my refuge in the day of trouble! Nations from around the world will come to you and say, *”Our ancestors left us a foolish heritage, for they worshiped worthless idols.* [20] Can people make their own gods? These are not real gods at all!”

David established it

1 Kings 14:8b NLT
[8] But you have not been like my servant David, who *obeyed my commands and followed me with all his heart and always did whatever I wanted.*

Solomon built on it

1 Chronicles 22:11-13 NLT
[11] “Now, my son, may the LORD be with you and give you success as you follow his directions in building the Temple of the LORD your God. [12] And may the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the Law of the LORD your God as you rule over Israel. [13] *For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the LORD gave to Israel* through Moses. Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!

Rehoboam destroyed it
2 Chronicles 10:8 NLT
[8] But *Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men and instead asked the opinion of the young men who had grown up with him and were now his advisers.

Feeding the 5000 – 5 perspectives

1 – The multitude – Hunger

John 6:1-5a NLT
[1] After this, Jesus crossed over to the far side of the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias. [2] A huge crowd kept following him wherever he went, because they saw his miraculous signs as he healed the sick. [3] Then Jesus climbed a hill and sat down with his disciples around him. [4] (It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration.) [5] Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him.

2 – Philip – the ‘truth-teller’

John 6:5b-6 NLT
[5b]Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” [6] He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.

‭‭

3 – Andrew – the ‘possibility-thinker’

John 6:8-9 NLT
[8] Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. [9] “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
‭‭

4 – The little boy – ‘Generosity’

5 – Jesus – ‘Compassion’

John 6:10-13 NLT
[10] “Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) [11] Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. [12] After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.” [13] So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves.

The fruit of the spirit

(Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

The disciples had joy

(Luke 10:17-20 NKJV) Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” (18) And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. (19) Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (20) Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Jesus had joy

(Luke 10:21 NKJV) In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

Jeremiah 1:4-10 NLT
[4] The LORD gave me this message: [5] “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” [6] “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” [7] The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. [8] And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!” [9] Then the LORD reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! [10] Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”

Jeremiah 1:11-12 NLT
[11] Then the LORD said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?” And I replied, “I see a branch from an almond tree.” [12] And the LORD said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.”

New heart, new desires

Align your heart

‭1:4-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan.”

A Father who gives us an identity and unconditional love

‭1 John‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NLT

A Father who gives us an amazing plan for our lives

Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬
