*Nehemiah’s response to intimidation*

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Hebrews 10:39(NIV)
But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

41 - The voice of intimidation : “We are not happy with your progress”

5Nehemiah 4:6-7 (NIV)
So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.7 But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry.

6Nehemiah's response : “stay united and work with all our hearts”

72 - The voice of intimidation : “ Come down to a lower level”

8Nehemiah 6:2-4 NIV
[2] Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono. ”But they were scheming to harm me; [3] so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” [4] Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.

9Nehemiah's response : “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down"

103 - The voice of intimidation : “You are not ... enough”

11Nehemiah 6:8-9 NIV
[8] I sent him this reply: “Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head.” [9] They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.”

12Nehemiah's response : “The joy of the Lord is our strength!”

13Nehemiah 8:10 NIV
...This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

14Nehemiah 6:15-16 (MSG)
The wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul. It had taken fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard the news and all the surrounding nations saw it, our enemies totally lost their nerve. They knew that God was behind this work.
